Some look on the soul as amazing, some describe him as amazing, and some hear of him as amazing, while others, even after hearing about him, cannot understand him at all.

We have to take this vaccination

Srila Prabhupada – “If there is an epidemic disease the medical man will administer a vaccination. In Los Angeles I received a vaccination. What was that disease—the flu?”

Devotee – “The Hong Kong flu”.
Srila Prabhupäda – “The Hong Kong flu. Yes. Everyone was getting the vaccination, and I got it also. And therefore I was not attacked by the disease”. (New Vrindaban, West Virginia, in 1968)

Srila Prabhupada – “So, this whole world is the Hong Kong flu. [Laughter.] Mäyä is ready to attack. Always. Therefore, we have to take this vaccination of chanting Hare Krsna too”. (New Vrindaban, West Virginia, in 1968)

Srila Prabhupada – “Se houver uma doença epidêmica, o médico administrará uma vacinação. Em Los Angeles, recebi uma vacinação. O que era essa doença – a gripe?”

Devoto – “A gripe de Hong Kong”.
Srila Prabhupäda – “A gripe de Hong Kong. Sim. Todo mundo estava recebendo a vacina, e eu também a recebi. E, portanto, não fui atacado pela doença”. (New Vrindaban, Virgínia Ocidental, em 1968)

(New Vrindaban, Virgínia Ocidental, em 1968)

Releasing Nanda Mahārāja from the Clutches of Varuṇa

Nanda Mahārāja was taken away by Varuṇa’s servants, his companions began to call loudly for Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma. Immediately Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma could understand that Nanda Mahārāja was taken by Varuṇa, and thus They went to the abode of Varuṇa, for They were pledged to give protection.

The inhabitants of Vṛndāvana, the unalloyed devotees of the Lord, having no shelter other than the Supreme Personality of Godhead, naturally cried to Him for help, exactly like children who do not know anything but the protection of their parents.

Demigod Varuṇa received Lord Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma with great respect and said, “My dear Lord, actually at this very moment, because of Your presence, I am materially defeated. Although I am the proprietor of all the treasures in the water, I know that such possessions do not make for a successful life.

But this moment, as I look at You, my life is made completely successful because by seeing You I no longer have to accept a material body. Therefore, O Lord, Supreme Personality of Godhead, Supreme Brahman and Supersoul of everything, let me offer my respectful obeisances unto You.

You are the supreme transcendental personality; there is no possibility of imposing the influence of material nature upon You. I am very sorry that by being foolish, by not knowing what to do or what not to do, I have mistakenly arrested Your father, Nanda Mahārāja.

So I beg Your pardon for the offense of my servants. I think that it was Your plan to show me Your mercy by Your personal presence here. My dear Lord Kṛṣṇa, Govinda, be merciful upon me–here is Your father. You can take him back immediately.”

Sri Narasimha Jayanti – The Appearance Day of Lord Narasimha – May 06, 2020

Sri Nrsimha Pranama

namas te narasimhaya, prahladahlada-dayine
hiranyakasipor vaksah, sila-tanka-nakhalaye

I offer my obeisances to Lord Narasimha who gives joy to Prahlada Maharaja and whose nails are like chisels on the stonelike chest of the demon Hiranyakasipu.

ito nrsimhah parato nrsimho
yato yato yami tato nrsimhah
bahir nrsimho hrdaye nrsimho
nrsimham adim saranam prapadye

Lord Nrsimha is here and also there. Wherever I go Lord Nrsimha is there. He is in the heart and is outside as well. I surrender to Lord Nrsimha, the origin of all things and the supreme refuge.

tava kara-kamala-vare nakham adbhuta-srngam
dalita-hiranyakasipu-tanu-bhrngam
kesava dhrta-narahari-rupa jaya jagadisa hare

O Kesava! O Lord of the universe! O Lord Hari, who have assumed the form of half-man, half-lion! All glories to You! Just as one can easily crush a wasp between one’s fingernails, so in the same way the body of the wasplike demon Hiranyakasipu has been ripped apart by the wonderful pointed nails on Your beautiful lotus hands.

Lord Nrsimhadeva Comes To Mayapur by Atma-tattva Dasa

ON MARCH 24, 1984, at 12:20 A.M., thirty-five men armed with weapons and bombs attacked Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir, ISKCON’s center in Mayapur, West Bengal. When the dacoits tried to steal the deities of Srila Prabhupada and Srimati Radharani, the devotees fearlessly challenged the attackers. How could the devotees see Srila Prabhupada and Srimati Radharani carried away? Both sides fired shots, and people on both sides were injured. Srila Prabhupada was rescued, but the Deity of Radharani was not.

The devotees wanted to worship a Deity of the Lord in his fiercest form,
but at first no sculptor was willing to carve Him.

The incident greatly disturbed the devotees. They had faced violence and harassment before, and now the management wanted a permanent solution. One manager suggested installing a Deity of Lord Nrsimhadeva, Krsna’s ferocious incarnation as half-man, half-lion, worshiped especially as the protector of His devotees. The manager cited a precedent: When dacoits had threatened the devotees at the Yoga-Pitha, the nearby birth site of Lord Caitanya, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura and his son Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura had promptly installed Sri Sri Laksmi-Nrsimhadeva (the Lord and His consort). There were no further disturbances.
